Lots of things are not usual. Political activism is not normal and yet here we both are.
Homosexuality is undesirable for a parent to see their child engaging in such behaviors because it very likely precludes the chance of genetic descendants. Then again, we run into a cultural thing here since homosexuals have entered into heterosexual marriages, had children in the past both recent and ancient, just as they seem to do in this film--I have not seen it.
You can either take a hands-off view regarding your fellow Americans liberty or you can call for (questionably successful) reeducation of homosexuals. Reading into your views, it would seem more reasonable for you to want homosexuals to stay with their own kind (e.g. courtship and homosexual unions) rather than to enter into "false" heterosexual marriages and reproduce.
People with homosexual attractions can remain celibate.
People with homosexual attractions can commit to living a heterosexual lifestyle, marry, and remain faithful.
People with homosexual attractions may choose to live a homosexual lifestyle and do so in safety, but without forcing society or the Church to accept their choice as deserving of the same protection and blessings rendered to heterosexual unions.
You read more into my views than is there. To me, abnormal simply means "not normal".
My point is that homosexuality is, on its face, abnormal behavior. Whether it is caused by "birth defect" or "accident" or "environment" or "choice" isn't at issue.
As such, I'm prepared to tolerate the behavior. But that doesn't mean I'm going to encourage it, much less celebrate it -- or institutionalize it with same-sex marriage (though I've no problem with cohabitation among consenting adults).
Otherwise, so long as they stay out of my face, how that person chooses to live their life is no business of mine.
