I understand the caution. Thankfully, the worst I have done is squibbed a 120 gr round ball load in a super Blackhawk. I heard the squib (it sounded like a slide whistle) and didn't follow up with another round) so no harm done to the pistol..
You wouldn't want to freep mail me that subsonic .308 load by any chance? That could be handy...

I managed to fire off a squib in the middle of a stage at the PA State IDPA Match last summer.
I immediately fired another round which cleared the stoppage. (At that point, I was unaware I had fired a squib and thought I had just had a light strike)
I ended up with a bulge/ring in the barrel which I have since replaced for around $200.
Sigh.
Ooops, nearly forgot the gun porn. (My S&W 625, sporting the barrel I had cut down to 4" to replace the one I screwed up.)

I'll have to admit, I squibbed on once too!...but I stopped and checked, so no harm done. After that, me and my "helper" weighed 800 rounds of .45ACP to make sure there were NO MORE squibs in that batch! We didn't find any. ;-)
Chk Freepmail...:-)
