No, the following volumes are much better, with a more coherent narrative.

In fact, the one you mentioned-the second novel-is one of my favorite parts of The Dark Tower.

I know what you mean though.

I read "The Gunslinger" years ago and it was like going back in time.

The fragmanted tone is a bit off-putting.

Like I said, The Drawing of the Three is much better, and I would probably have began with the newer, revised version if I were just starting the series.

It's been so long since I even read the fourth book that I felt I HAD to start at the beginning in order to make sense of it.

I started the Drawing last night, so I should have it done by Thursday or Friday. Maybe sooner, if I stay in bed...

I'll finish the series, but only because I feel compelled to do so. I HAVE to know the ending!
