All right, you asked for it!
Numbers
The world is what the world is,
You cant make it perfect.
You cant make it safe.
You cant make it make sense.
If you live an average life,
Half the people that you come to know,
And love,
Will die,
Before you do.
This is a statistic. You can check it out.
Its just numbers at work.
The cold equations.
Numbers at work.
Numbers,
Numb.
Nobody said that Life was fair.
One thing we know for sure.
Death is not fair.
It may be equal,
But it isnt fair.
Young children shouldnt die.
Healthy young adults shouldnt die.
Old people, who have seen too much of sadness,
And have grown weary of the torment,
May welcome uninterrupted sleep.
But Im getting tired of it.

Yah. That sounds like me, alright. Of course, I've pepbably seen a lot more death than a lot of people, beginning when I was 14, and even that's a number.
It never gets easier. It never becomes "common." It just IS. And you stated it quite well.

And for some reason the tune from the TV show "Branded" popped to mind.
"Branded! Scorned as the one who ran.."
"Numbers! Chasing the man who ran!"
