That's me ... baffling!
My birthmark is now covered by a tattoo...;o]
LOL!
Ivy Mike is the first thermonuclear weapon using the Teller Ulam design where the heat from the fission part of the weapon, called the Primary, causes an implosion of thermonuclear fuel in seperate stage called the Secondary. Its yield was 10.4 Megatons. roughly 800 times more powerful than the 20 kiloton bomb dropped on Hiroshima.
I got that image from Atomic Forum, which is a forum about nuclear weapons. I post there under the name Lahav. That place has all sorts of rare images. You can access it through here: http://www.atomicforum.org/
We plan to park the Flying Castle for a short time in a crater just North of the Martian equator in the vicinity of Valles Marineris.
It's near that dark splotch to the right in the photo.
After we finish with our expeditionary projects, we plan to leave the crater with a domed cover, (like ours), some robots, and perhaps a small contingent of hardy settlers.
If this is not acceptable to you, our Plan B is to locate to an island in what will be the Northern Ocean, to establish an administrative center.
As Imperial Weatherman for Earth and Mars, I am providing the following forecast for the weather on Mars:
"Cold and Sunny for the next decade, followed by forty years of rain and cloudy weather."
No puny five-day forecast here -- five decades!
Great photo, Bob. Would that be "Fog In An Ice Storm In Antarctica"?
Never mind...there it is...
Yep. I'll be entering data for the next couple of months...
*sigh*
Hey! Congratulations!
I guess the hard part is over and the rest is just plain grueling, huh?
You can do it! And you know I'm with you!
Thanks. I have one hurdle over with. I have an even bigger hurdle though when I defend the final dissertation after I collect and analyze the data.
At least I'll be warm and cozy at the Tax Table.
That's because it's so close to the Main Fireplace...how can you not be cozy in the Library? I mean, I ordered "fox" furs for you, just special! ;o]
At least we'll know how to dress. That's very important.
You mean, besides space suits?
Thanks, 'Face. :-)
Well, the purpose of the rain is to effect climate change on Mars.
We'll need to restore the Northern Ocean, and replenish the atmosphere with some Carbon Dioxide, (Venus can spare it!)
Then we'll seed some special plants around to convert the Carbon Dioxide into living plants and an Oxygenated atmosphere.
It will also help that we'll have some mirrors strategically positioned to warm up the planet by reflecting otherwise wasted sunlight -- after all, if we don't know how to produce Global Warming, who does?
All of this will take a while, of course, but some of our grandchildren should be able to benefit from it. Even with the ocean, Mars will have quite a lot of acreage available.
Well, you said you didn't want real furs, so I got the other ones for you. That was a long time ago though...
Thanks. I prefer the "fox" furs.
It's a good thing you all have kids, because it doesn't look like I'll be having any grandchildren to benefit from it. LOL!
One never knows what the future holds for each of us...;o]
