I stand corrected on Episode 4. My understanding was that the defense contractor dudes were part of the plot.
However, I still think the show downplays the Islamist nature of the terror threat this country faces and tries to wrap too much government conspiracy back in.
Maybe you missed that the Russian president was meeting with Logan to sign an agreement on fighting terrorism together? Their immediate goal was to stop that from happening. "Terrorist" to us means middle eastern Arabs. To Russians it means Chechens and other "breakaway" state of the former USSR.
Their secondary goal appears to be to dupe some "uber-patriots" into giving them nerve gas so they can threaten Moscow with it.

Maybe, but if you look at how our democrats behave and how they are constantly trying to thwart any efforts to capture terrorists you can certainly envision all the conspiracy theories. Also look at Jon Walker Lindh, he was not your typical Muslim, in fact they try to bring the non-typicals in so that they can fool us.
