I agree with you. When they whisper, I can't hear and the set is so dark,I usually can't lipread. Sooooo, I go to my office, bring up TV on PC, and turn on "closed captioning". I also have the sound up really loud on the TV in the background.
Between the two, I usually get to "hear" every word!!!
I'm sure if my neighbors could hear the TV, or see what I'm doing, they'd think I was nuts.
I guess the real solution would be to have a TV here in this room as well but I only have one TV, have never had more than one, so the idea of getting one when I have TV on this PC, I dunno. Sounds excessive to me.
I'm just glad to see that others are complaining of the whispering on the show. I don't know why they do it. It's so low, I can't hear. It's not like the bad guys can really hear them. I mean, the reality of it is so silly.
