For sure dogs can. . .it is said that when fearful. . .we (and the rest of the aniimal kingdom, no doubt for the most part). . . emit certain . . .'whatevers'. ..phenomes or somesuch (help!) and so there is in fact a 'scent' to fear. . .

Now, do WE smell it. ..probably...but perhaps on a less concious level. . .unless one has a really good nose. (I know I have smelled 'fear' on my dog. . .)

AS to smelling death. . .the old question of the 'tree falling in the forest' comes to mind. . .and in this case, a tree falling in a 'cold winter forest'. . .or just a body sitting in a frigid room. . .in front of a warm tv. . .
