Given the following features, where are the best communities in the US for conservatives?
Funny, linear.
Connecticut and Massachusetts. Where better to take the battle to the enemy?
You lived in Billings?
Ah..er..no offense but that would be close to the bottom of my Montana cities to live in
If I could affort it, outside of Big Sky, off US191
No, but IMHO Myrtle Beach is very overrated.
Almost anywhere in the Adirondaks, or Ramah, NM
Definitely SC. The Blue Ridge mtns are beautiful. And you can get to the ocean, too.
Ogden, if you like living in a military-oriented community. Nice local ski area, too.
So Carson City is conservative and the cost of living is lower?
I moved from Spokane, WA. Believe me, this is right from where I came from. I would agree with you on Reno/Sparks, Richard.
It's beginning to annoy me. But we need more to get rid of Reid.
Tennessee is on the fast track to socialism. I predict it will be as bad there in 10 years as Wisconsin is now. No income tax (yet) but high sales tax including food items. Tennesseans living along the borders of Alabama and Kentucky buy their groceries out of state.
Love thy neighbor but pick your neighborhood - Vermont.
OUTSIDE of State College.
The cost of living for housing compares to Spokane, WA, but things like goods, groceries and utilities were far cheaper.
Richard has some valid points, but there are a lot of amenities to the outdoors that eastern Nevada doesn't have. For me, it's worth it and I'm only 35 years old. But I like smaller towns that have a more community feel.
That's my two cents worth.
Specific names of towns or local communities is helpful. I am not retired but my wife and I are seriously considering attempting such a move if we can just pin down the location. We'll need to get jobs, etc... Brag all you want if you think you know where we can find a little bit of conservative paradise.
Also need to be able to afford a home. Current location homes are cheaper...nice neighborhood, etc @ around $150K...some places if fear we would not be able to purchase a similar home...
OPen to all advices friends....
PS...I'm not too far north of Panama City, FL already. It is beautiful...but we are mountain-people at heart...
Billings is:
a) A real town
b) very conservative
c) has refineries and lotsa agriculture
d) real cowboys (not the gay sheep herder kind)
e) not a festering liberal poophole like Missoula
f) Is in the middle of God's country
e) Unlike Big sky, is not a town full of rich california transplants.
Other than that, it probably sucks. LOL
Thanks for the info.
I learn more stuff from FR.
Wrangell, AK
Hood River, OR. (ok, so it's left leaning...)
Western NC, VA or SE Penn.
