Gold rings and jewelry do not trigger the detector (non-magnetic). No reason to remove them unless they are fake.
That's what I thought...I never take my six gold and diamond rings off when I go through security and they don't set it off. My belt buckle (silver with a brass eagle on it) does. I'd say this guy is full of BS.
