DU and Kos started their teams to compete with us because they had a hard time believing that "idiot Freepers" can do more good than they can. The pure fact that they started their teams to copy us is a good indication that we were doing a great thing.
As for privacy - do you think Intel, Apple, Google, HP, IBM, etc. would encourage their employees to sign up for Folding@Home if they were concerned about privacy? Seriously . . .
