Who in the world does this ? My family. My grandmother drove herself twenty miles to the hospital after a major stroke because she didn't want to raise a fuss.
My mother broke her leg sleepwalking and made her brother drive 15 miles to help her because the ambulance service has a volunteer force and those people need their sleep for a real emergency. A 60 year old woman with a spiral fracture of the fibula doesn't qualify as an emergency in her mind.

My family. My grandmother drove herself twenty miles to the hospital after a major stroke because she didn't want to raise a fuss. I did that after my first heart attack. Three in the morning, nobody on the road, but I drove to the hospital with one hand on the parking brake, just in case. I figured that I'd get to the hospital before an ambulance crew could get to me.

In the 50's my mother had ALL of her teeth pulled out in preparation for dentures and then walked 2 miles home in the Houston summer heat. She didn't want to ask anyone to drive her home and daddy was working. I'm not that tough, I am a wimp.
