I don't think using the same concept is plagarism. By that logic the producers of "Tombstone" could sue Kevin Costner for "Wyatt Earp".

"what about the plagiarism?"

Did you get this upset when Joe Biden did it? That was plagiarism.

How many movies have their been that have similar plot themes? Happens all the time.

Jimmy is in training for an upcoming sporting event and he's determined to win at any cost. Cartman feels he can easily take first place against Jimmy. He just has to convince the qualifying committee he's handicapped.

March 24th of 2004? How is that ripping off a brand new movie?

Are you really that naive? It's a marketing ploy by the movie's creators to drum up controversy to get people talking about their movie.

South Park makes irreverent jokes about every touchy topic. An episode about the Special Olympics is right in line with what they do.

There are also lots and lots of cartoons that mimic movies. Parody is not plagiarism. However, the south park episode doesn't even seem to be a parody of the movie. It doesn't even seem to be that similar except that they both deal with the Special Olympics.

This is nothing but a marketing ploy by the movie's creators.

I bet the creators of South Park are laughing their butts off about the whole thing and think it's funny.

There will probably be an episode about a South Park character who's idea is ripped off by a movie maker in the future to poke fun of it.

"what about the plagiarism?"

They are both copying reality... there was a case where a wheelchair athlete with a gold medal was recognized from his picture in the paper as an able bodied mail man.

South park is topical... if something big is going on there is a good chance it will end up in Southpark..very much like the Tonight show opening monologue.

For example they recently had an episode where the boys went joyriding in a boat and broke a hole in the levy causing flooding... the townspeople quickly decided the flooding was caused by global warming and overreacted..for Southpark it was just another conservative lesson about global warming and environuts. But i guess you could claim they plagerized that from new Orleans if you were looking for a way to criticize.
