It's rock that's generally agreed upon by music snobs to be derivative moreso from classical music than blues and early rock. Although I don't know that there's a clearly defined explanation of what progressive rock is. Wikipedia might have one...

Prog Rock = long intricate songs 8-15 min., multiple musical changes, voice changes, alot of keyboards, mellotrons.....not your typical 4 min. radio songs.

I have seen her on public access TV, she's pretty damn good, I agree.
