Rick Berman destroyed the franchise, moving from space jaunts discovering Platonic idealism in the original series to inner conflict and applied humanism.
Sorry, but folks identify with searches for ultimate 'Truths' and have nothing but disdain for folks who can't figure out right from wrong. Doesn't matter how many electronic gadgets you throw around them.

I agree. However, somehow a bald-headed commander named Jean Luc Picard did nothing for me. I would say the spoof movie called Galaxy Quest with Tim Allen was the best spin-off of the original Star Trek.
