This is so interesting, but I have to use the heating pad, again, darn.
I believed Larry Klayman for awhile, but he sent out too many requests for money, Roomey saw through him, as you both did. I'm just a little slow sometimes.
'Nite All...till tomorrow. I'm going to get up early and see what else transpires, but, I ask, why is this information coming out now, when it's 3 to 4 years old?
"Hey Ev,
There are a few small gifts & treats from Christmas which I will be sending to you this week so look for a small-ish package within the next 5-10 days.
Also, thanks again for the beautiful centerpiece, everybody commented on it & I told them all it was from you.
Most of all thank you for calling.....I know you had to be dog tired after your patrol........but it meant so much to all of us to be able to exchange a few words with you.
Katie was her usual sweet wonderful self and everyone just loves her.
BTW I LOVE the gift she gave me.....and I understand you saw it while you were home! The singing snowman!!!
It was the hit of the evening..........well, along with the jazz sax-playing Santa doll we gave Tim.:-) We had the two doing "duets".:)
I don't tell you often enough how proud we are of you..........and that we miss you & love you very much. Take care of yourself and write/phone/e-mail when you get the chance.
Lots of love,
Mom
p.s. The Packers suffered a humiliating loss to da Bears Sunday.........even more humiliating than usual because it gave da Bears the Division championship.:(
.....and it happened HERE. At Lambeau.:(
Oh well, at least the 'Queens are out of the play-offs."
I hesitated to tell him about the Packer game......I know he''ll take it hard.........but better to hear it from Mom than on the street.;^)
Hubby & I are setting new records for laziness this week.........after the hustle & bustle & rushing around & STRESS of the past few weeks we are both suffering from "Christmas hangover"........little to no ambition and a compulsion to nap often and spend copious amounts of times starting at a television screen while consuming unseemly quantities of unhealthy but delicious food.
IOW we're having a blast, but a quiet blast.:)
They make that statement based on the fact that the court modified 173 requests before approving them. The remaining requests were approved as requested. In all 3,485 requests were made in 2003 and 2004. Of the 3,485 some 173 were modified by the court.
In 2002 there were 1228 requests and only 2 were modified. The Bush administration appealed those two modifications and won the appeal. Those two requests were sent back to FISA ordering the FISA to approve them. The FISA did.
Another point is Lamberth is listed as the presiding judge in a court made up of 11 judges. How could one judge control how 10 other justices will rule. He might assign cases to like minded justices but that would be hard to control.
Finally why would the Bush administration take 1228 cases in 2002.. right after 9-11 and then do 1727 in 2003 and 1758 in 2004 if they have decided to bypass this court.
My point is the story claimes the Bush admnistration was bypassing the court. Although the number of cases brought to the court increased each year and no decisions were appealed after 2002.
There is evidence that when the Bush administration did notlike the modifications made to its requests it appealed and won.
If the Bush administration was unhappy with the decisions why were there no appeals in 2003 and 2004?
The story lists only the reports as source.. yet reports as fact things that can not be logically deduced from the reports. There is nothing in the reports to support the claim that the Bush administration bypassed the court.
Presidents have been going to this court in some cases, and not going to court at all in other cases since this court was established over 30 years ago.
The UPI story drew a conclusion presented as fact.. Bush, it said, was bypassing the court and by inference violating the law. They site the FISA reports to congress as their source, and there is nothing in those reports to suport that conclusion.
FYI - I see that on CSPAN there is (at 9:05p.m. CST) a rerun of Royce Lamberth talking about FISA from 4/13/02).
Excellent! Thanks for the heads up; I'm listening.
Thanks for that information.
The president has said repeatedly, to a seemingly deaf press, that the administration continues to utilize FISA. There is a valid reason why they avoid it in certain cases, I'm sure, and it probably has to do with Lamberth or another judge with jihadist ties.
Hi Mozie - it sounds as though your family had a nice Christmas and that the call from EV was the high point of your day as I know it would have been at my house. When my son was stationed in Germany we would all get on the phone on Christmas Eve while he opened his presents we had sent him. I hated to think of him opening them all alone and that way we could talk about it while he opened them. It was still hard for him to be away at that time though as I'm sure it is for Ev.
We are doing what you are - just vegging out after Christmas which was very busy for us this year. My sister and her husband from ND are still staying with us but also go to their daugher's house to visit so aren't here all the time. It's been fun but tiring. I don't think I can cook another meal for at least a week.Your Christmas Eve menu sounded great. I made a new recipe (although I had eaten it before) - Chicken Marsala with Portebello Mushrooms and it was a big hit.My BIL loves my cooking (my sister doesn't care to cook much).
I appreciate your updates on Ev and he is always in my prayers.
I have some coupons that need to be used up by 12/31, for buy one, get one free meals. SO hubby & I will be breakfasting out tomorrow, and we're going out for dinner Friday night at a very nice place, and I'll be having lunch with someone....hubby or older son...at a Mexican place sometime this week. I also have gift cards received as Christmas gifts so will be doing some shopping at Barnes & Noble and Bath & Body Works.:)
That is, if I can work up the energy.:)
Today I managed to dial Papa John's Pizza to get a free (with gift card) pizza delivered to our doorstep.:-)
p.s. Sorry about your Vikings. Well, not sorry for them, but for the fans (the nice ones like you & my brother.;^)
bbl or tomorrow or whenever I have the energy/motivation.;^)
Glad you're able to take it easy for a few days. I know the days/weeks leading up to Christmas are even more hectic for you than for most of us with all the music commitments as well as the other hustle and bustle. Enjoy yourself!
At times, she hosts a local evening talk radio show when the usual host is on vacation and she was on this evening.
Because she has access to Lexus/Nexus (?) through her publication, she finds some quite interesting info and does a good job of analyzing it.
Tonight she dropped a bombshell!
She reported a story that was in the media around the world late last week and over the weekend but her search showed that not one single media source in the U.S. has reported it ... that's nada, zip, zero! ... in spite of the fact that the first version she saw of the story came from UPI.
Here is one article I found (among several) by googling so you know that if I could find it, all the media must know about it and have deliberately not reported it.
Italy Arrests Three Algerian Suspected Terrorists
Some snippets from the story:
Three Algerians were served with arrest warrants in Italy on Friday on suspicion of links to international terrorism. The men were accused of planning attacks in Iraq and Italy.
The arrests were part of a nationwide sweep against an extremist Algerian group, the Salafist Group for Call and Combat, believed to have links with al-Qaida and fighting for the creation of an Islamic state in Algeria.
[snip]
Police wiretaps picked up a conversation following the July terror bombings in London in which Mr Bouhrama and an unidentified person talked about finding a ship like the Titanic, packing it with explosives and killing 10,000 people in Italy.
Anyone want to make any bets with me on why the U.S. media doesn't want to report this story right now?
I do know the area as Canon Beach is the most beautiful beach I have ever been to. I love it there and was there recently camping at that campground near the north end of town with big bunny rabbits all over the place! Lionel had a ball chasing them and discovered rabbit "pellets" come in convenient snack sizes. I had to carry him out of there and walk him into town to "do his business". My mother and sister are coming out to my house (Tacoma area on a small island) in Feb. and we booked rooms at the Hallmark? right in front of Haystack Rock. It will be her first time to the Pacific coast. She is blind in one eye and cataract in the other as well as glaucoma, so she should be able to see it! I hope she can see Tillamook Lighthouse out there during our stay. We have also stayed in newport at the campground Pacific Shores I think, and in Lincoln City. I do love the Oregon coast How far is Eugene from Canon? My mom has a frined there and I wondered if she could come see her while we're there or vice versa.
Hi! New thread is up (as am I)!
What an interesting find! And you're 100% about why the media won't report on what wiretaps prevented. If people knew what the wiretaps were finding and the lives they were saving, the support would be so high the leftists would be suicidal.
