Oh, find the BBC version sometime! It's incredible. A lot of libraries have it, even if rental places don't!

A bit part of my bias is that I love the book and have read it over and over. Most movie versions either mangled the story until it's almost unrecognizeable, OR cut out some of the parts I consider essential. Plus often modernize the dialog. I liked that the BBC version used quotes almost directly from the book. And Colin Firth is and always will be Mr. Darcy for me. The other characters are equally well portrayed.

They just did a superb job, both on the screenplay and on the casting. I highly recommend it.

I will look for it. I have never been a heavy reader of fiction(prolly the understatement of the year at FR).. so I don't look at movies critically like many do. I go to be entertained..despite the perhaps lack of gelling w/books they are based on or often lack of historical accuracy if it is so based. I enjoyed Memoirs of Geisha.. which was based on a book I will never read.

I did read In Cold Blood & am looking forward to the movie Capote.

Here for a bit. skipping church to stand watch & pray with FReeper Snugs as her mum in England is in critical condition. Not sure if Snugs has ever dropped in here.. she is a single British lass.
