I am looking forward to a VERY low-key Christmas after having survived a hair-pulling semester of college courses. *chuckle* The kids will be here in the morning for breakfast and gifts. How about you?

Low key is an understatement. I haven't done any decorating.. My pooches death recently has just knocked the wind completely out of my sails.. My son/family are in NC & wont see them. My mom is an invalid so I will try to make as nice day for her as possible (she likes food). Will be going to dinner w/friend to friends in afternoon

I'm so sorry about the dog's passing! I had a little cocker named Jessica that kept me company for 16yrs. It really hurt when she passed away. I never considered myself much of a "pet" person....but it took me awhile to get over it.
My daughter and her two are close-by which really makes the season special. Next Christmas will be a real celebration... since my son and his wife (both Marines) are now discharged and will be moving nearby next month. Right now they're in San Diego.
We can be thankful you have your Mom and friends to be with....so make an eggnog.....get warm ... and enjoy your evening with us on FR tonite! *smile*

I've been working at this for the past 7 years with several interruptions.....and it's finally within reach. It's been difficult trying to balance life, school and work.....but the pay-off will be worth it. Getting more adept at taking care of me.....but sometimes I need to be reminded. Thanks! :)

Of course. No apologies necessary! lol I get a little brain freeze once in awhile. :)
I recorded a few Christmas movies on the dvr earlier in the week... so I'm going to watch a couple of them later tonight. It always makes Christmas seem more like Christmas. :)
Also, a good friend has promised to call in the morning and read the original Christmas story to me.... Never forget the reason for the season!

Hope you and the boys had a safe trip! And in case you check in, a very blessed Christmas to you, as well!

Got a kick out of your tagline, Dolly!
Looks like I missed everyone - I'm just back from church. I planned to stay for the choir's performance before the last Mass of the evening, but chickened out. I hate driving at night in any case, and didn't want to get sleepy to boot!
To: RosieCotton
I'm glad you had a good time!
Merry Christmas!!!

I'm very sorry to hear that, a death around the holidays really sucks. My grandfather died December 19th in 1966 although I was only 5 months old so I don't remember much if anything. My first cat, Cricket, passed away December 11 back in 1994 when she was 10 so we didn't really celebrate Christmas that year either. If it will be any consolation, google "Rainbow Bridge" down and read the poem about lost pets, it is very touching.
Merry Christmas!

Rosie, I never saw the BBC version so I have no basis of comparison. But the P & P just out is excellent IMHO.. I highly recommend it for folks esp who like a gentle movies without body parts flying, car races ,vulgarit and the minimal of special effects.
Yeah, confess, I like movies like that too. Don't get me wrong, I like my fair share of action and post apocalyptic fiction is a fave of mine but it is nice to just chill and watch something gentle on the mind too. "Anne of Green Gables" is a fave of mine too.
