Or it can fall close and roll away. Or get transplanted. Or pruned into a bonzai.

Perhaps carried by a swallow during their migration.

I agree with what you're saying. My issue is I'm just tired of a narrow standard and just about everyone who isn't a size 2 being called fat. And it isn't about me (yes, I'm round) but its about how we've skewed so far away from normal that kids start dieting at 12 who don't need too! Or Dr's who put everyone one a weight reduction diet when they have conditions where a bit of weight will keep them from dying (yes, that is possible too).

You don't have to tell me. My wife has a compromised immunity system, among other problems. Whenever she would try to lose weight, she would end up being weakened and get sick. It's embarrasing how many doctors look at weight loss as a panacea when it is dangerous for some people. (She did, this year, get on some medication that has a side effect of causing weight loss, but the point remains.)

Not everyone who is "obese" is guilty of a mortal sin of sloth or gluttony.

That is exactly what I was talking about! I've had patients with albumins at 2.1, chronic infection and 50# overweight--- with some Dr. wanting them on a 1000 kcal reduction diet. The same he wanted given to EVERYONE who was even 5# overweight . I see too many Dr.s who have a bias to the point that they don't see the patient anymore.

Whatever, I could go on and on and on about the crap dished out towards even the mildest of weight sins. Karen Carpenter started on her path because she was called pudgy by some reporter. It's the new shallow qualifier...right hating folks because of their religion, race, etc

Personally its the same heck I caught when I was 20# underweight and in a ballet troupe "You've gained 3 pounds! LOSE IT!", up until I was 30# overweight and married to a control freak-- who said he nagged me about my weight because he loved me.....however, he was 80# overweight and terminally ill himself while I was super healthy. To put it bluntly, he was trying to hurt me and I knew it. Funny, but I've yet to see anyone call someone 'fat' who really, truly cared about the person (deep down in their souls).

Not everyone who is "obese" is guilty of a mortal sin of sloth or gluttony.

I know, I know. I work with patients now several controlled or lock-down settings who have diseases or are on meds that make them constantly hungry. All they have is TV and food. Period. Activity, space, food choices and staff is limited. But there is always some 90# intern coming in wanting to put everyone on a reduction diet. OK hun, you stay here 24/7 and deal with the fallout.

I hate stupid people. ;)

Anyhow, Give your wife my regards.
