I think there are a couple of observation points on the western side of the Kenai peninsula where you can see the volcano from a distance.

Didn't notice that. Awesome. I guess Redoubt is the other acive volcano. Beautiful drive from Anchorage to Homer. I could do without some of the liberal whackos in Homer though.
