Reference to a South Park episode referring to indy movies. One of the characters ( Cartman )states: "No dude, independent films are those black and white hippie movies. They're always about gay cowboys eating pudding."

You cannot make fun of these people. Any reducito ab absurdum becomes a plan of action. Consider that in the current King Kong, Kong is made into a sympathetic character.

Kong was a sympathetic character in the original, also. It was beauty and the beast.

Kong was a sympathetic character in the original 1933 version, too. And the Dino DeLaurentis remake.
