ON THIS WEBSITE, YOU WILL FIND THE KWANZAA CELEBRATIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
Kwanzaa is celebrated by many families and communities from December 26, 2005-January 1, 2006. For more information on organizing a Kwanzaa Celebration for your family or community, go to the OFFICIAL KWANZAA WEBSITE =========================================================================
There was shocking and heartbreaking news for those planning to attend the Kwanzaa Parade in Los Angeles. Former Los Angeles resident and businessman Stanley Tookie Williams, who had lived in San Francisco for the past 24 years, had recently been chosen "King of Kwanzaa" for the Los Angeles Parade. He had told friends that he was looking forward to the parade and considered it a great honor.
Williams had already purchased a brand new tuxedo at the Men's Warehouse after hearing George Zimmer's commercials telling him how good him would look and that Zimmer guaranteed it.
Three nights ago, Williams was found dead on a gurney in the early morning hours. Preliminary reports indicate that he died of a massive dose of some chemicals that had been introduced into his bloodstream with a hypodermic needle. Several witnesses have told the police that the injection was not self-administered.
Williams, a Nobel Peace Prize nominee, as well as a nominee for the Nobel Prize in Literature, was the author of an autobiography as well as nine wonderful and inspiring children's books. During one of the series of shows featuring Williams on KFI in Los Angeles, talk show hosts John and Ken read one of the books on the air. Jamie Foxx, who had starred in a movie based on Williams' life, broke down after learning of the death of his friend.
Kwanzaa officials are scrambling to choose a new King. Exclusive to FreeRepublic, inside sources have also been privately working on a plan to pull off a "Weekend at Bernie's" deal for the parade, but they do not know if they can maintain the body in a natural enough state until parade time. We have been told that they have been experimenting with dry ice, and we will provide updates from our sources as we receive them.
Heh heh heh heh heh!!!
Just as I logged on to FR, up came your headline. It took 5 paper towels and heavy slugs of windex to clean my screen and keyboard. Life is funny, oh yeah!
My kid's public school "holiday" program included a Kwanzaa song and a Mexican Fiesta song. The one Christmas song was about Inns turning away the baby, which was factually incorrect and without any mention of the importance of Jesus.
Could they promote Don King for The Tookster's replacement?
Happy Conzaa to all
Hey now..>Don King is a rightwinger and a BIG GOper...there is no way he compares to the vile piece of feces that was tookie williams.
Don't mess with King.
bump for later
It's always bothered me that there were actually people who embraced this fake holiday. And that the US Postal Service dignifies it with a stamp.
The schools must be sharing the same politically correct program across the country this year: my youngest son's school "holiday" program, conducted yesterday evening, consisted of the exact same sort of songs.
Which leads to a very interesting question regarding Kwanzaa gifting: what do you give to a Crip who has everything?
King has done a masterful job of hiding his roots in organized crime, including kicking to death a man on the sidewalk. He was a brutal numbers racketeer prior to entering boxing promoting. In 1992, when questioned about his connections to John Gotti by the Senate, King took the Fifth rather than testify. Every time King gets in trouble, he plays the race card. He's a recent convert to the GOP...and quite frankly, the GOP should have rejected him instead of being bought off by his 'diverse' public support and political fundraisers.
A lethal injection.
Hey doug, how well did your 'childrens' book about John Kerry sell? You sold more copies than Tookie did right??
It's correct celibration for Qkwansas.
Next year the King get's caught in gang cross-fire after fleeing a 7-11 he robs.
Another radical liberal idea gone caput!
Didn't compare him with Tookums; just thought he'd look nice, with all that "big hair" & bombast leading their parade. Would actually give it a touch of class, in an odd way.
And politics & money aside, I still always see King as rather seedy & sleazy, in an entertaining sort of way.
There was NO VANCANCY in the Inn, everyone was traveling to pay their taxes to big brother government of Rome.
He endorsed Bush but that doesn't make him all that conservative.
