That's a nice one. Where are the homeless? And those children look way to healthy for Illegal aliens. Are you sure there's a bridge at all? LOL
New User Rules of Thumb
This is actually a quite friendly place once you realize some basic rules of thumb:
Don't post personal essays in News Activism. In fact, posting personal essays is frowned upon, especially if you don't respond to people who want to discuss it with you.
Don't post duplicate threads
Don't use this as an advertising place
Don't expect it to be a debating society, cause it's not.
Don't post and run. This gets more people marked as trolls than anything.
Don't use it as a place to do your homework.
Don't post in the wrong area.
When in doubt, use your spell checker.
Use the preview function to make sure your paragraphs are there.
Be respectful of the fact that many people who post here love guns, God, and the Constitution.
Viking kitties can be your friends.
Best way to get a feel for it is to get involved with discussions on threads and read a lot of what is being posted.
It's really not necessary to lurk for 6 months, rumour to the countrary!
Special vocabulary:
Zot - when the moderators declare a troll has posted, and the game of pile up on the thread takes place. Frequently symbolized by a lightning strike or an atomic explosion.
Viking Kitties - the ones who do the zotting for the mods! (a great game!)
BTTT - back to the top - when you want to bump a post back up, usually because you don't have the time to read it, but want it on your "My Comments" section.
Hugh - inhouse joke for huge
vey series - inhouse joke for very serious. Can be shortened to just series.
all your base are belong to us (I suggest you google that one. Great fun!)
Stuned - inhouse joke. Stunned, usually used in a humourous or sarcastic way, usually by a "beeber like device"
And finally:
DO NOT EVER POST A WHOLE MESSAGE IN ALL CAPS.
Remember, paragraphs are your friends.
Beware the spelling and grammar nazis. Good content will keep them at bay some times, but not always.
FR does have it's share of racists and sexists. I don't think there are any homophobes, though. Maybe a bunch of people homonauseated, though - sick of the gay agenda.
Hey! I joined in 2002! It was the night GA elected a republican governor, the first since reconstruction (or better described as the Northern Occupation), and nationally the republicans kicked a$$ in the midterms!
Word to the wise: tread lightly for the first couple of months...and avoid posting vanities during that time.
Welcome to Free Republic.
Relax some.
You made some unintentional 'just learning' errors.
I made them myself way back when.
(I got depth charged and torpedoed in forum!)
There are "new Signup help threads" available, also known as Admin Mod Lecture Series threads.
The Mods have a link on their bio page for it, but I'll pirate it to here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/k-adminlectureseries/browse
Some useful info in there for when you can get to it.
Even though there's only about three months between our sign-up dates, you are one of the last who got a sign-up number under 100,000. I hadn't been on the boards very long when someone posted a vanity asking those of us with numbers over 100,000 if we felt like we were fitting in.
I had thought I was fitting in fine until I read that thread. ...
Could've been one of Darks' ex's.
LOL! You mean "...his schtick" right?
Yikes!
I hope he didn't meet.. Miss Staplegun 1993.
"No we don't."
"Yes we do ;)"
Do not!
LOL! You mean "...his schtick" right?
I can't find it. (old age getting me. LOL)
I thought you were new here. How much can you really know about the quality of FR?
In the upper right corner of the screen:

Hit "More" and look at the top of the page.
Same here HC, I've posted one thread in almost 5 years and it was a Memorial.......
You've posted a total of 43 threads and 12,650 replies.
It's just that it was worded so "exact". It's almost always "racism, sexism, and homophobia", in that order, when the robots say it, and if you lurk the various DUngheaps you'll see how they throw it around because they have a computer at hand yet nothing of substance to say. Those words are like "groovy" or "kewl" - so overused they have no meaning, no power.
It's very strange, to say the least, seeing it here.
