Assuming she only takes 2 weeks vacation, that's about $96,000 per hour. Anyone really think she is willing to pay a higher tax rate? |

As far as I'm concerned they might as well hire that guy that walks around in the suit with the question marks all over it as hire the perky one - both are likely to be about as good.

But if she bails for CBS, I hope she gets her money up front.

Yeah, what a ditz. She made a pretty stupid statement the other day about the guy that went crazy on the airplane -- "...couldn't you just shoot him in the leg or something?"

I think Katie is dynamic enough to take the entire CBS news operation down the tubes. A couple of years of the perky one, and CBS will mothball the entire operation and simply rebroadcast CNN Headline news for their news segment. I like it.

"Katie would likely be able to dictate a whole new direction at the nightly news show not to mention new sets, promotion and marketing campaigns and other expensive changes.
Now that would be worth the price of admisssion! I can see it now, Katie Colonic standing on a chair in the midst of the CBS studio cracking a whip at her minions and doing her best Evita/Hillary/Hitler imitation! Yea, that will fix it for CBS, all right!!

I don't get Katie Couric's appeal? Maybe when she was young she had a perky look to her but now she just comes off as a clueless old liberal elitist. She also asks pathetic questions to guests.
She would be a joke on evening news. She has zero gravitas. She looks like she should be out with joan rivers whining about some outfit at the oscars.

Yes, I always notice the sets.
It's good CBS has decided that a woman's decorating touch is necessary.
It will definitely make me want to watch CBS Nightly News with Katie Couric.
To: Sub-Driver
my God she must be in a shambles..how will she ever be able to afford a $3m pay CUT???

I hope she takes it. Because that swooshing sound you'll hear is her career finally taking the flushing it has so richly deserved for sooo long.
Maybe Cindy Sheehan can take over her spot on Today. That way they won't have to make a shift in editorial policy to accommodate a new host.

The scale is different, but giving Katie that kind of money ranks right up there with Yahoo! giving Mark Cuban $5.7 BILLION for "broadcast.com".
