Last of the Mohicans- The "I will find you!" scene. There isn't a woman alive who wouldn't want that degree of devotion. I sit there with the remote and just click to that scene if the movie is on TV.
Road Warrior- That incredible chase sequence at the end.
Man From Snowy River- Ned the horse going over and straight down the hill. I still don't know whether to be amazed by the horse or impressed by the rider.
Singin' in the Rain- The whole "Singin' in the Rain" dance bit. Still perfect.
One of the old Musketeer movies- The Duke of Wellington returning from the hunt in this bloody shirt, stomping down the hall, yelling orders and tearing off the shirt. OK, so sue me, but it was clearly the first time I saw a scene written with females in mind.
The Potempkin- Baby carriage down the Odessa Steps (Ok, I know it's obscure). But it was one of those "Ah ha!" moments when I saw how you could literally wrap an entire movie into one bit of film.
Psycho- The shower scene of course....changed America's bathing habits for years ;)
Wizard of Oz- The Munchkins coming out for the first time. I still get little girls goosbumps every time I watch it.
I wonder how many got suckered into accepting Communism because of that one scene?
Excellent List, as usual Naj. Last of the Mohicans is my wife's favorite. And I'm all over the Wizard of Oz....best musical ever!
Good call there! That movie is rich with powerful scenes. My two fav scenes are 1) the kiss at the beseiged fort and 2) when Alice throws herself from the cliff. Amazing movie - the music carried it.
Another favorite moment is 'Gandalf's Charge' in LOTR The Two Towers. Wasn't in the book, but gives me goosebumps each time I see it.
Dittos for Snowy River.
Um, it was "Battleship Potemkin". And it was a scene that was SHAMELESSLY STOLEN by the writers/director in "The Untouchables"....
