WHAT!
Pissant, I'm disappointed in you :)
Godfather II to slightly better than I. Two of the greatest movies of all-time, IMO.
No more movie posts' for you until you see GII.
Btw, don't spoil Godfather I and II by seeing III. It was bad.
Saving Private Ryan As noted, the landing on Omaha is gut wrenchingly realistic, and powerful.
Alien. Sorry, but the Alien busting out of McDowell's chest trumps even the Exorcist - barely - as the scariest moment in cinematic history.
Jaws. When Brody sees the shark for the first time, noting laconically, "You're gonna need a bigger boat."
Full Metal Jacket. Lee Ermey's GySgt Hartmann is the perfect rendition of a hardass Marine DI, and every line he speaks is unadulterated, brutal, and gloriously poetic.
Oh spare me.
Stole my tagline I see. hahahahah
LOL!!!!!!!!!
Also the secure beach part.
Sorry, John Hurt.
How could I not laugh? You should have known better than to try to break-dance in the nude. I've never seen burns in the places you had them, and I was not about to help you rub in the ointment.
Oh wow, GMTA!!
Any John Wayne movie; especially Stagecoach.
Clint Eastwood in Absolute Power, wasn't too shabby, either.
...but pilgrim, you caused a lot of trouble, could of gotten someone killed, and someone should belt you in the mouth. But I won't. I won't. THE HELL I WON'T!!!!!!
My older brother never served (multiple knee operations in childhood) and I've told him that if he wanted a real taste of life as an Army (or Marine) recruit that he should watch Full Metal Jacket.
However, the only physical violence I ever received from my DIs was when the junior DI (E-5,just back from 'Nam) took me behind the barracks because he,a southern boy, didn't like us "Yankees".
The Son's of Katie Elder and El Dorado are my favorite John Wayne movies.
How about in Batman (1960's version) where Batman (Adam West) is fighting off the (obviously fake) shark from the rope ladder suspended from the Batcopter?
Another Bogart: "To Have and Have Not" Bacall saying "you just put your lips together and blow." She was hot in that picture!!!!
"Nothing's too good for the man who shot Liberty Valance."
The hand comes out of the water in Deliverance.
In Finding Nemo, when Nemo says, "My dad took on a shark?" and the seagull says, "I heard he took on three."
The horse dies in Animal House
"You're gonna need a bigger boat"
"It's Mega-Maid!!! She's gone from suck to blow!!!"
"El Dorado"
Over the mountains of the moon
down the valley of the shadow,
Ride, boldly Ride,
the Shade replied
If you seek for El Dorado.
Mississippi (E.A. Poe)
Now you're talking. Think I'll go watch it now.:-)
Good point:
After delivering the first atomic bomb to be used in combat to the United States air base at Tinian Island on 26 July 1945, she was in the Philippine Sea when attacked at 00:14 on 30 July 1945, by a Japanese submarine. Most of the crew was lost to shark attacks, as they floated helplessly for several days, waiting for assistance.
