The Hobbit Hole XXVI - Home is behind, the world ahead
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 12/11/2005 8:37:40 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Home is behind, the world ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

That limits things quite a bit.

Dude, just how much time do you need?

We prefer the term "burgular."

<smirk>

I can't get good Tex-Mex in Austin! And I have seen --- from a distance, thankfully --- what passes for Tex-Mex in the Upper Peninsula. You have my sympathies.

Get your parents to go to Delicioso and buy you a few dozen frozen tamales --- they can ship 'em to you as needed. The tamale is, to my mind, one of the highest expressions of the art of Tex-Mex cuisine.

Tamales, and enchiladas suiza.

Chuy's is fine --- excellent cheese enchiladas --- but they don't know how to make a soft taco with a corn tortilla. And they don't have enchiladas suiza (chicken enchiladas in a Swiss cheese/cream cheese sauce).

On the positive side, Chuy's does have rajas con queso (onions and chiles in a cream cheese sauce).

Upstairs naybor has his c-rap turned up loud enough for me to hear the lovely lyrics. Enough to make your ears bleed.

I reallly don't understand how that's pleasant to listen to. For anyone.

It's quieted down for the moment.

We've done the pounding on the ceiling thing a coupla times...but usually reserve that for late at night. We kinda figure if we bug him too often, he'll stop paying attention to our "complaining".

I know there's gonna be SOME noise bleedover in an apartment complex, and I hate to be a pain. Just wish it wasn't THAT noise.

Take the can and a large manuscript envelop. Fill it with the contents of the can. Slip the open end under the door. Step on the envelop. Run.

Ok. Now you've got me droooooling.

I'm going to make tamales for New Years! I've got the masa, I've got the husks. The roasts are waiting for me in the freezer....
