The Hobbit Hole XXVI - Home is behind, the world ahead
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 12/11/2005 8:37:40 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Home is behind, the world ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

But do you have bread, eggs, and milk?

Sounds like you're ready to go.

You risk financial disaster by not having collards and peas. :)

They don't 'go' with tamales.

Besides, Big'ol will eat neither collards nor black-eyes. So far so good.

Sounds like you're makin' something really tasty! I assume the cilatro, cashews and lamb go together somehow?

To: RosieCotton; All
We're home from lunch, with some possibly good news... had a message on our answering machine from my recruiter. Apparently the contract job that I've been waiting to hear about is now moving forward, and he wanted to check on my availability. Since my recruiter has been out since Tuesday of this week and was calling me from wherever he is on vacation, I'm guessing that means they want me to start next week.

Also, Rose has a second interview for one of the jobs she applied to, next Thursday.

Hey, that sounds great! Which job does Rose have a second interview for?

I'm still hoping I have good news to announce on Tuesday sometime! ;-) Starting a new job is always a little nervewracking, but it beats the alternative!

Which job does Rose have a second interview for?

It's this job here, the Database Administrator position with the Governor's Office. This will be the second round of interviews with the final 2 or 3 persons, after which they'll make their choice presumably. We're thinking they may want to get someone into the position by the end of January, perhaps as early as Jan. 15. (hope, hope, hope...)

It'd be really nifty if we all got started at about the same time, wouldn't it? Woo-hoo!

That would be great! BTW, Rose was looking at some of the job listing sites that she uses, and said that a lot of new job listings appeared today. It was quiet earlier in the week, but I suspect a lot of places are looking to hire with the start of the new year....
