She loves it!
We have that set for Luke as well.
Ooh, yes, I'd like to have your recipe. The last time I tried making something to use for it, I ended up giving up and just making sugar cookies instead.
Hey there Corin. Goodnews on getting the foot surgery taken care of. I am sure that Mrs. Stormhands isn't looking forward to it, but she will be glad she did it when all is said and done, methinks.
I took Karateboy to see Narnia on the first day it was out. We went at 10:30 to avoid the schoolers. He wanted to leave almost as soon as it had begun, but I told him it was just setting the mood and he was fine with it. There were several parts where he was scared, but overall he says he would see it again, and that it was the best movie he has ever seen. I find that impressive since he is a LOTR and Star Wars fan.
Our old one wasn't the lever type - just had a thing you twisted, and it was pretty much trial and error. This one is really heavy (won't dent up like the old one), and just blissfully easy to use. Says "Made in Italy".
Hobby Lobby...we didn't have those back home. Now there's one just a coupla blocks away, and that's a bit dangerous.
Here's the recipe I used - warning, it calls for a LOT of butter! These are basically butter cookies.
Spritz Cookies
1 1/2 cups butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp almond extract (optional)
3 1/2 cups flour
Prehead oven to 375. Cream together butter and sugar; blend in baking powder. Add egg, vanilla, and almond extract, if desired. Blend in flour to form a soft dough.
Force unchilled dough through a cookie press onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes, until edges are firm but not brown. Cool on wire rack.
We usually decorate them with colored sugar before baking - it was one of the things the littler guys got to help with. These are probably the most popular Christmas cookie for my family, at least in that we may go through more of 'em than anything else. I think it's because they're small and slighlty plain, but still vey rich and good. And with a good cookie press, they make you look like a really fancy baker. ;-)
Dang...I do tyspos well today...
That picture is worth framing! I somehow missed it earlier! Ha...looks like she's getting ready to ZOT the poor rose...
oh yummy! We are going to have to try that out tonight. It going to be cold outside, perfect weather for baking!
Sounds like a plan!!
What a cute Nativity Set! I saw one made of what looked like clay dough yesterday in a lovely gift box. I'm thinking of sending it to a newphew and his new wife as a wedding gift!
Werks fer me!!
I just hope they survive the trip! Being so buttery, they're fairly crumbly.
Well the thread didn't...
I swear, my cookies are NOT poisonous. Honest. They didn't kill the thread.
Urgh...I hate waiting for phone calls. The guy from the position at the college is supposed to call anytime to schedule an interview, and I feel like I can't do anything until he does.
There's always more baking to be done. :-)
Whatever you don't want, or whatever is too much for you, you can always give to your neighbors (even Mr. Beepy if so inclined).
I think I'm about done with baking...I can only fit so many kinds in the packages before they start squashing other cookies. ;-) I admit, I'm kinda worried there will be nothing but crumbs - and the fudge - when they arrive at their destinations. *sigh*
But I guess even crumbs taste OK. Just not the same, that's all.
I use to get cookies at college in those priority mail boxes. The ones that are about 3 inches tall and something like 10" by 12". They worked fine for getting chocolate chip cookies safe to their destination.
These are going in bucket thingies...I'm making layers of each kind of cookie. But I do worry that if the box gets tossed around, some of them are gonna crumble. Trying to put sturdier stuff on the bottom of each container, but there's no guarantee the box will remain even more-or-less upright.
I guess we shall see.
Interview Wednesday at 10:30. Hope I can find the building - eek! And I dunno whether it makes sense to take the bus while school isn't in session, so I'll have to find a parking spot, too, most likely.
