You're mixing outrages. If you want to argue a point, you should argue the point, not bring in other points to argue.
The Virgin Mary was not insulted in the South Park episode. Catholics, sure. Alcoholics Anonymous, absolutely. People who believe in miracles, probably so. But a cartoon depiction of a statue of the Virgin Mary bleeding is not an insult to the Virgin Mary.

OK - I'll try to play. If a segment of the population flocked to see this happen, because they thought seeing it and touching it would cure them of disease... then yes, Matt and Trey could probably make ~them~ funny....
The show has nothing to do with the virgin Mary and respect you believe should be shown for her (although I don't know why) as much as it does with the idiots that run around the world looking for bleeding statues and images on toast as some sort of sign. Sure it was a little over the top but I didn't think it was that bad
