Destiny's Child
In a first for Wal-Mart, the retailer has recruited celebrities like Garth Brooks and Destiny's Child to appear in holiday television and print ads.
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. started its holiday campaign Tuesday, the first time the world's largest retailer has run ads this early in the season, company officials said.
It's the first time Wal-Mart has used celebrities in an ad campaign, which will also include country singer Martina McBride, pop star Jesse McCartney and actress and singer Queen Latifah. The ads will feature each of the celebrities at their actual homes to fit with the theme, "Home for the Holidays."
The campaign is part of Bentonville-based Wal-Mart's continuing effort to be seen as up-to-date, said John Fleming, Wal-Mart's chief marketing officer.
"This campaign corresponds to our overall objective of being more relevant to the broad range of customers who shop in our stores," Fleming said. "We expect our focus on familiar celebrities who are enjoying themselves at home with family and friends to resonate well with everyone who is looking forward to being home for the holidays this year."
The celebrities will be featured in print, TV, radio and Internet ads as well as on posters and signs in Wal-Mart stores.
FYI.
PS Google has a cached version of this article. That's where I found it.
Well, if the Dems diss them, that means they aren't REALLY black.
Something like that was actually the gist of their complaintts: They're not really whatever -- not really progressive, etc.
Love Queenie. She rocks!!!!!!!
The country stars didn't bother the Dems -- but, these black entertainers have now "sold out" according to the Dem posters.
it ruins the RATS (they think they're subtle) obvious propoganda campaign that wal-mart is a racist corporation.
Queenie is regular people and takes sh** from nobody.
I saw the one with Queen Latifah, and had to get closer to the TV to make sure it was Walmart logo...
I saw one where she was shopping with her Mom. Now I wonder if that's her real Mom in the commercial.
There are 4 types of people these folks are concerned with:
Whites and blacks who are black.
Whites and blacks who are white.
Only the first two count.
What's their beef?
Me too. My hubby thinks she's a hottie. I guess I could see it.
Let's see: White girl hair.
White girl makeup. White girl clothes.
These are the kind of
"black" girls a white guy
can bring home to meet his folks
even if they're Klan.
