THe selection show is on at 6 PM.

Pretty much the picks have been decided.

There is only some doubt whether ND or Oregon gets the final at-large berth.

No wonder Weis got that pay raise.
yep....

the moment they got past Tennessee, you knew they were going to the BCS if they won out.

They did (barely) and a last second TD drive against Stanford gave them their payday.

If they are struggling against teams like Stanford, think of what just about ANY BCS team outside of Florida State will do to them.
Paterno a corpse?

Don't be such an ass.
It's important for the Big 12 that Texas make a good showing against USC. After that pathetic performance by Oklahoma last year the conference needs a better showing by their champ this year.
yep...

The Big 12 also needs a strong showing by the lower teams in the conference.

They can't get rolled up in the Sun Bowl and the Pac_life bowl or else they will start becoming a joke themselves....
Let's say Texas gets smoked. Next year the Big 12 champ is unbeaten again but so are two teams for two other conferences. Think the Big 12 champ will be the odd team out?
Yes....

depends on who it is as well...

Oklahoma wouldn't get shut out, but Texas might. Texas Tech certainly would, and no one else in that conference has a prayer at going undefeated....
Part of the problem is still the damn pre season polls. As long as a team doesn't lose for some reason the voters are reluctant to put another unbeaten team ahead of them.
pretty much...unless they have a marquee win....
Right. If Texas were to get smashed it'd be tough for a Big 12 school to get a high pre season rank next year anyways.
probably....

a lot of the preseason rankings come from what happened in the bowl games.

Take 1999 for instance.

Ohio State won the Rose Bowl but graduated pretty much the entire offense and most of the defense.

The next year, they opened at #5 in the AP and #6 in the Coaches polls.

They ended up 6-6 and missing the bowl games altogether.
What's going to happen if next year the only unbeaten school is the Big East champ? Will they get into the title game?
Post 72 was for you. My bad.
probably not LOL
and Oklahoma too
Reason #45,623 for a playoff.
LOL

only 45623? :)
and Purdue.
yeah but they weren't pre-season top 10 like the other 2 were....
