Seemed to me, to be two different thoughts.. He spoke of one humble life, and then, mentioned Santa.. Whats the problem!? Has anyone seen video of it? The delivery is key to figuring out if that's what it was. It's easy to see how it could be seen as a joke-- setting you up to think "Jesus" and then saying "Santa" instead.

I didn't see the delivery.. but, knowing how the President speaks, he does tend to speak somewhat, let me say this gently as possible, disjointed. Know what I mean? I'm sure in his mind, he does not compare Jesus, to Santa.

Yes! I watched it. It was a definite change of subject, and there was a Santa Claus standing right there, to whom he addressed the remarks with a grin and a twinkle in his eye.
My Gosh, I wish people would not be so quick to think the worse. It as all completely innocent!
