My kids think I'm cool because I have cd's or songs of and like Metallica, ACDC, Ozzie, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, The Black Crowes, Velvet Revolver, No Doubt, Nine Inch Nails, among others. Of course, they don't like my Neil Young, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, and Elton John selections much......and I was just thinking the other day, how nice it is not to have to listen to the elevator music I had to endure as a child while shopping with my mother. : )

I'm a pianist from WAY back in the day, but right now I'm learning to play this beast. (Okay, not this particular beast - it lives in Pennsylvania - but I aspire to this one someday.)

It's called a carillon, and usually they're stationed in bell towers. It has a keyboard setup, very similar to a piano, except you play with fists and feet; essentially, your hands play what your right hand would play on the piano, and your feet take the low notes. (Which makes sense, since you have to exert more pressure on the larger bells to get a sound from them.)

My kids don't, but they sure don't hate him like they do Neil Young....they absolutely cannot abide him one second (imagine the torture rituals I put them through!!).

I can't stand his whiny, pseudo-brit voice. There's only two songs of theirs I can remotely stand (J.A.R and Good Riddance). Every other one is basically a different version of the same song. Bah!
