November 28, 2005 -- An aspiring Broadway dancer was found stabbed to death in her Upper east Side apartment last night, police said. Catherine Woods was discovered face down in a pool of blood on the floor of her bedroom. She had been knifed in the neck and hand, and the room was in "disarray, " police said.
Her boyfriend told cops she was an exotic dancer, police sources said.
But her parents in Columbus, Ohio, told The Post their beautiful 21-year-old daughter was a dancer who had appeared in an off-Broadway production called "Privilege."
Cops said the boyfriend, David Haughn, told them he discovered the body of the petite, dark-haired beauty in the bedroom of their second-floor apartment at 355 E. 86th Street near York Avenue.
Haughn, a doorman, told cops he had left Woods in the apartment at around 7 p.m. to work on his car, which was parked nearby.
Twenty minutes later, he said, he returned to the apartment and noticed the door was ajar.
He told cops that when he entered the bedroom, he saw Woods, who was wearing a jogging suit, covered in blood and unconscious, and called 911. snip She was on her way to a successful career," said her grieving father, Jon Woods, who is the director of the Ohio State University marching band.

The oldest of three children, she graduated early from high school and moved to New York 31/2 years ago.
The police sources said Haughn, 23, told cops the victim worked at FlashDancers Gentlemen's Club, at Broadway near 52nd Street.
But two detectives who visited the club last night with her picture said no-one recognized her, and management said they'd never heard of her.

It's obvious the boyfriend killed her. Why else plant a phoney story about her being a stripper than in some sick attempt to try to make the cops think that she had it coming?
I wonder if he really was a boyfriend.
I think the "boyfriend" has some splainin' to do.
HEY EVERYONE! QUIT KILLING EACH OTHER.
Okay. Carry on.
I doubt club patrons would have been scrutinizing her face.
How's this political news?
Get CSI-NY on the case and the BF will be at Rikers by 11PM
Geez, that was a textbook Lenny Briscoe wisecrack.
I've been watching waaaay too much Law & Order.
In other news, a lot of ugly people were killed, but who cares?
But her parents in Columbus, Ohio, told The Post their beautiful 21-year-old daughter was a dancer who had appeared in an off-Broadway production called "Privilege."
Isn't that the same thing?
Right, also she's cute but a beauty??? I've seen better.
It's not political news and was not posted as such. Why do you ask?
No.
The boyfriend could be a clueless dolt who hears 'dancer' and sees G strings. And even if she explained, he probably didn't understand.
I've seen lots of folks do that.
Me, I thought ballerina :)
It's Bush's fault.
Plenty of non-glamorous murders get covered...read the papers and you'll find them. This is like a Law and Order episode.
I guess he measured the trunk and realized he couldn't fit in the body.
"Beauty" makes for better headlines on a slow news day when they're trying to get people's minds off of the pathetic Giants loss to Seattle.
My son-in-law's sister was murdered 2 years ago just before Thanksgiving. She called herself an "exotic" dancer too. She was murdered at 7 am by a neighbor who was on crack and wanted her car. He strangled her. The night before that she'd had a little, what do they call it today, "party?" with another woman and a man. She had over $5000 in her daughter's diaper bag at the time.
Don't know why I said all that except that it's not a good lifestyle for sure. I wonder it the "club" is covering for their type of business they are running.
Funny thing is that her mom approved of it. She loved the money her daughter made.
