Windows is only cheap if you are a pirate. Otherwise it burns up your time and money. Don't get me wrong. Linux is lots of fun, but it's more fun when you are getting paid to play around with it rather than having your wife asking why "x, y, and z don't work like before." OS X has been a godsend for my household.
