VANITY: Connecting Tuntable To PC
Lake Titicaca | Today | Brainhose

Hi All.
Sorry for the blatant vanity.
Since my stereo receiver died, I'd like to connect my Turntable to my PC.
I bought a "Y Connector" to plug the RCA terminals into the "Line In" of my sound board but the interference is so terrible I can't stand it.
My Motherboard does have a S/PDIF terminal on it but I can't shell out all the cabbage for a S/PDIF enabled turntable.
Have any other freepers done this?
Many Thanks in advance.

MM or MC type? MM is the most common, but MC I believe has better audio quality - but you need an amp for MC. Preamps are not cheap, in general - check on eBay for a cheapo receiver or maybe you can find a suitable preamp. (in case you are not sure - MM is moving magnet (most common cartridge type) an MC is moving coil.
