I happen to be reviewing my old posts and came to this thread. I want to let you know that I'm thinking of you as I write this. What a terrible loss. I pray for you and your daughter.

"What I have discovered over the years is that good and bad times are somewhat cyclical. Everything can be going well and then, all of a sudden, a bad cycle will emerge. The same is true in reverse.
I can attest to that.

I hope to never be able to answer this question, although 2005 sucked pretty bad. i found out my now ex wife was doing her boss, and my father died. I was very close with my dad.
My uncle told me the story of sitting in a rice paddy in Viet Nam, spitting out the nasty taste of his co-pilots brains after getting shot out of his second huey, very concerned about high speed lead poisoning while his wife was home, 8 months pregnant. He told me that was the worst day of his life, and if i ever had a bad one like that, to call him and bitch. I don't think I'll ever have a bad day like that!

Well, all my so-called misfortunes have been spread out throughout my life: my Dad died of a heart attack when I was 18; my Grandma, who practically raised me, when I was 19; my mother blew her brains out when I was 22; my only brother almost lost his life in a car accident when I was 25; my boyfriend married someone else when I was 26; my first husband left me when I was 32 and pregnant with my third child; I lost everything but the shirt off my back when I was 45; I was diagnosed with cancer this year...
But then, because I was on my own to support a younger brother, I learned to be responsible and self-sufficient; because I lost almost all those who were dear to me, I learned when to cry and when not to cry; because I was left alone with wants and needs I could not satisfy, I learned to wait for the good things; because there were some real dark days, I learned to appreciate the simple things and gifts of life. And, after the years passed, I learned that life has a way of compensating, and that G-d is good.
Now, I have three wonderful, good, sensible and intelligent adult children whom I love above every other human being and who love me likewise; I am happily married to that boyfriend who left me to marry someone else and with whom he was miserable; I am friends with that ex-husband who left me to raise my children by myself; I moved from a crapy thrid world country to my beloved home, he USA; I left behind an unsolvable economic situation and because my husband and I had learned the hard lessons of our earlier lives, now we have a happy, normal marriage, a house in CA and a small apartment in TX (where, G-d willing, we will move soon); the doctors got the cancer and found no need for radiation or chemo...
So, what has been the worst year of my life? Hasn't happened yet! Ask me on the other side...

Mine was 1999. My mother succumbed to metastatic liver cancer. Watching her die, in only twelve weeks, bumped my depression to the readline. My life spun out like a '44 Zero.
