Vanity----looking for an online site to buy computer monitors
Posted on 11/25/2005 1:58:36 PM PST by jsh3180
I am in the market for a couple of 21" or larger flat panel monitors. I had four Sony 21" tube type monitors that are slowly dying, I'm down to two. Looking to upgrade to flat panel LCD type. Anyone have a good online place to buy reputably and inexpensively (relatively speaking that is)
Thanks for any input.

all types of new stuff with gurantees on ebay. Sure you may have to do a bit of searching, but I've purchased lots of new stuff on ebay.
I also do a lot of my price comparison's with ebay.
But, that's just me.

Go to a place like techbargains.com to see what kind of deals buy.com currently has running on monitors.

And also keep in mind a 21" tube is only slightly bigger than an 19" LCD.

http://cheap.typepad.com - there will usually be at least one deal that they've found on larger monitors like that, if not three or four to choose from.
As for companies to buy from - six of one, half dozen of another. One in five will likely be broken by UPS or FedEx so the odds are you're going to be making a return. Buy.com does an ok job at that, Dell a little better, NewEgg a little better still.
Good weekend to buy, actually. Odds are you can find a good one on sale.

Wait until next year. Internet prices are highest in the 4th quarter. Lowest June-August
Right now it's a seller's market, not a buyer's market.
You may also want to shop around locally as shipping can eat up any cost savings. Particularly if you have to return items damaged in Christmas rush shipping conditions.
Most online retailers do not pay for return shipping and may not refund your original payment in full (they may keep the original shipping and a restocking fee).
You might also check with a local mom and pop geek store or neighborhood independant computer consultant whiz kid.
I use the NICCWK (whiz kid) method. He provides personal installation and trouble shooting/emergency rescue services and has saved me endless tears, cursing and hair tearing.
