Your opinions please!
Get there early, IMO.
If it's the one I think it is you have to be one of the first 50 people there at 5:00 am.
The clientele at my nearby Walmart is such that I'd be afraid of getting stabbed in the rush.
I know Dell has one almost that price after the rebate.
Here's the lowdown on Black Friday Laptops: http://www.laptoplogic.com/resources/detail.php?id=25&page=1
In computers, you truly get what you pay for.
They are, however, fragile. Handle with care, and they'll take care of you too.
Some amazing deals on electronic equipment tomorrow by many retailers.
If I wanted to fight all the hyperactive shoppers, and take the risk of possibly getting trampled to death, it might be worth it to try and cash in on some of these deals.
But I think I will sleep-in instead and let the loonies go at it. The news should be interesting tomorrow evening!
Looks good.
Problem is you have to sign up with AOL for a year to get the deal. So it ends up being over $400.
Most interesting.
It has a mobile Sempron (value AMD cpu like the Intel Celeron and not a speed demon or good for cpu intensive apps) and only 256MB ram, that's barely enough to run XP and another app considering that the onboard graphics will eat up 32MB to 64MB of that. For the price you get what you pay for and while it's cheap if it doesn't do what you want it's worth zero. If you can live with long load times, don't run games, open big spreadsheets or use photoshop like apps and only need it for word processing and light browsing it might get you by otherwise you'll be pulling your hair out. You can get better for a little more and be happier
From everything I've read on the laptop thread at BFads.net the HP at Walmart is a good deal. It's good to go for wireless, and has a decent battery.
I go to my Walmart every year for Black Friday. There is a comaraderie amongst the bleary eyed, and caffeinated shoppers alike, as we await the magic hour of 5AM.
My Walmart usually has quite a few of the BF biggies on hand, and I've noticed that some stores, like circuit city say on their website, that each store will have at least 15 of their sub $500 laptops..My Walmart always has more than that of the BF specials.
Good Luck-BTW, if you don't like it, electronics can be returned at Walmart.
Get 512 RAM at least. I run a 1 gig of RAM

I'm typing this from a HP ze4800, which was the bottom-of-the-line (or close to it) HP laptop from a few years ago.
It has worked very well in all this time, apart from not coming with the Firewire port that the floor model in the store showed it to have. The USB 1.1 ports are sluggish compared to 2.0.
Make sure you try out the keyboard for responsiveness. The one on this ze4800 has kind of a "dead zone" in the center where I really have to pound on the keys.

Strickly POS.
I'm thinking you're on the West Coast, so if you're killing time on FR until it's Walmart Time, I have just returned from my Walmart w/o a laptop.
My store only had twenty, and they said that was how many all the small market stores got. They gave out numbers, but when they wheeled out the laptops, it got chaotic, and a number didn't help to get one.
A first for my store, some people even got knocked out down by large men making for the front..
