the couches are all trying to hide! how's your bird coming?
Smells really good. Might be ready in half an hour or so. I got the stuffing going and the yams. Then I just got to get the cranberry sauce out of the can and I'm set.
feast fit for a king ya got going there. xshub is on the treadmill, once he showers we should be ready to eat, i have to put the vegs on to cook, but the BIRD is done and "resting" now. i am looking forward to this meal, it is my fave of the year.
with SU sucking, McNabb out of football, xshub and xsboy are moving beyond football season. i guess he said they will root for Indianapolis bc there are 3 SU alums on the team.
This might be Indy's year.
And when it comes to cranberries, I prefer the canned stuff. Now I just got to find the can opener.
It would have been cheaper and less work just to have bought a porterhouse and a nice red wine.
I've got turkey roasting and everything else in a holding pattern, ready to warm up as soon as the bird is almost done. I didn't make a buttermilk pie this year since I made a lemon and chocolate checkerboard cake with lemon icing for the birthday guy. We have pumpkin pie too. My kids don't believe me but there is such a thing as too much dessert!
Dinner is ready! It takes two plates to hold it all.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
A quick poem while I take a break from cooking-
Hillary doesn't agree with X42
According to the news today
This must be a new nefarious plot
To advance her getting her way
She wants to be known as queen
And to get there without a hitch
But most think of her a bit differently-
As Hillary/solidus/bitch
I had to finish thawing my bird in the microwave, too. It is starting to smell good out on the deck with the bird in the smoker, and everything else is "holding" except the gravy, which is almost ready. We will probably eat around 4 or so while watching the Cowboys play on the TV in the kitchen.
Enjoy your dinner!
It is sunny and 78 here-supposed to get down to about 45 tonight. I have the windows open and I'm in cutoff jeans and bare feet.
My bird should be done in about 20 minutes or so. But we're not going to eat until about 6.
All that's left is to pop sweet potatoes in the oven when the bird comes out, fix my gravy and heat the oyster stuffing. Coolbreeze made the pumpkin pie and I did blueberrie.
He is now across the creek on a firewood hunt...but probably chasing kittens, and I'm waiting for one of the gals from the Moose Lodge to stop my with yet another kitten I said I would take off of someone's hands.......yeah I'm gullible...and when I was told it had the same type coloring as the one that drowned........I couldn't say no.
It's gorgeous outside.......but not warm enough for shorts :)
I would have liked to open the windows, but couldn't bring myself to do so after hubby went through all the trouble of finally getting all the storms down or in :)
Thanks. It was really good. I think I'll make soup with the left overs.
I know your plan. You are raising a brood of viking kitties :)
Yup!!!!!
Well, now hubby wants to wait until 5 or so to eat, so everything is ready and on hold. I closed the windows so the house would stay warm tonight, but it is almost too warm in here right now.
Aha! Now we know where all those viking kitties that come to zot trolls come from...
We're still pretty much on track for 6ish. The pumkin pie took longer than expected, so I am only just getting my rolls and stuffing in the oven.
