Out-of-state veterinarians are banned from volunteering their services on behalf of the animals of greater New Orleans. Rescuers have been threatened with arrest if they attempt to give food and water to animals in Orleans Parish.

-----If they are volunteering and it doesn't cost the state anything, why can't they help instead of let them die in the streets. (just asking)

This is a topic that is very dear to my heart.

A great many people have done wonderful things to help the animals in New Orleans. Anyone who has followed this closely knows of many heartbreaking stories and also some heartwarming stories.

It is not over yet for the poor animals. I can only pray that those who continue to try to help are allowed to do so.
