'She didn't seduce me,' teen says
Can statements made by a newlywed 15-year-old boy be used against his 37-year-old, pregnant wife, charged with molesting him sexually?
How a judge decides that question could determine the status of the case against Lisa Lynnette Clark, who married her son's playmate and is reputed to be carrying his child, the teen's lawyer said Thursday. The case could come down to the issue of "marital privilege," Gainesville lawyer Daniel Sammons said.
Clark, a Gainesville resident, remained jailed under $10,000 bail Thursday at Hall Detention Center. She is charged with sexually molesting a minor her husband, who turned 15 in August.
The newlywed husband, meanwhile, defended his wife Thursday. "She didn't seduce me or anything like that," the boy told Atlanta television station WGCL. "She's done a lot for me, you know. She's been good to me."
The boy's declaration underscores a case that already is getting heard in the court of public attention. The story of the runaway groom and his older bride has become blog and radio fodder and has drawn reporters to Gainesville like hungry cats to milk.
