The "Don't mention the War" comment is a joke from the English sitcom "Fawlty Towers." In your signature line you have a quote, something along the lines of "My name is Manuel -- I'm from Barcelona."
On Fawlty towers a bellman is named Manuel. His actions are sometimes justified by Basil Fawlty (John Clese) with the explanation, "Don't mind him..He's from Barcelona."
