both sides are acting
silly here. kids do not generally notice the photos of the author, let alone the illustrator. and there was no dang ashtray in GoodNight Moon, nor should there have been.

That is silly. If I had a nickel for every time I read that book. Good night nobody, good night mush and good night to the old lady whispering huusssshhh.

You are right it is silly, but the one's lamenting the change (I don't believe I have ever heard of the book) are not the ones that started the silliness.....that was started by some busybodies in California (where else?) That want all movies, including the old classics, to be given an "R" or "mature" rating if there is any sign of cigarettes, cigars or smoking in them.

Gabz, the next time you are at a Walmart or a bookstore, take a minute to look for "Goodnight Moon" - it is a sweet children's story that is just saying goodnight to everything - the moon comes up and shadows change in the room - it is so calming -I still love the book.
It is odd that someone would alter a picture from 60 years ago -
