There's some kind of a new book award: The Quills is a new book award program that pairs a populist sensibility with Hollywood-style glitz to bestow the first literary prizes reflecting the tastes of the people who matter most--readers.

See the second book down, which won Debut Author of the Year.

Do you get the Suthren Living Christmas books? I'm gonna be making a recipe from the '05 edition for a potluck luncheon tomorrow. It is a yummy-sounding chicken & wild rice casserole. Been wanting to try it, but it calls for water chestnuts & almonds, and CG won't touch either.

That does sound good - I had a corn relish recipe at a Southern Living Home Deco party recently - I'll find the page number/book for you is you are interested - it was very good.

Be sure and tell us if that casserole is good -

Well, I guess she just couldn't let it sit. Someone else received a copy of the old map book at the end, right? (My memory's gotten REALLY bad).

I LOVE Southern Living parties! Their stuff is very nice. And yes, I do want the page #/book for the recipe!

I guess the choice is a happy ending, a sad ending, or an ending that leaves things hanging to some degree, whether a sequel's intended or not. The third option seems to be the choice these days. I don't think she should do a sequel. I think she should come over here and make me some pie (or "pah" as Cartman would say).

I'd never read how beautiful Budapest is before. A lady who works for us part-time was just over there and confirms it's very lovely.

Political acumen, not scruples, got the Clintons where they are today.

Yes it sounds terrific - as does the corn relish.

I've got chicken in a pot of the stove for chicken and dumplings..........the debate was what kind of dumplings. Drop or slippery. Drop won out tonight.....we've had the other type the last few times I've made it.

Good comfort food for acold day, and a not real spiffy little one :)

I love chicken and dumplings, but hubby isn't all that fond of any kind of chicken soup/stew. The few times I've made it, I've done the drop dumplings-they have been my hands-down favorites ever since I was a kid. I'm cooking beef burgundy stew for supper, but I'd really rather have your chicken and dumplings...

I love water chestnuts-hubby will eat them in stuff like stir fry, but he says it is like eating styrofoam because they have no taste-he says the same thing about jicama in salads. He does eat almonds, though.

She had a good spell for about an hour or so, but hubby and I figured it wouldn;t last much longer.....we were right, she's back wrapped in all the covers with the space heater on.

But he's such a good daddy, and delivered the stuff she was supposed to bring to girl scouts tonight up to the church........and brought me back the list of countries I volunteered to find the flags of for the girls to iron on to the sweatshirts they are wearing in the Chincoteague Christmas parade in 2 weeks.

The troop leader loved my idea of getting the flags off the net and ironing them on - instead of the girls trying to paint them!!! I even supplied the package of iron decal paper - I can't print them because i currently don't have a color printer.

Put dumplings in the stew :)

I love chicken and dumplings, but they ran out of them Wednesday night before I had finished my time at the table selling bingo cards :( And Mashed potatoes and chicken gravy was not going to cut it for me :)

What sort of things do you put corn relish on?

Usually a fork, but sometimes a spoon.

We had dinner out tonight at a local Brewery - wonderful beer - and I had chicken stuffed with blue crab and artichokes........... it was incredible.

....... it was incredible.

It sounds like an incredible misuse of good blue crab........blue crabs are properly served on newspaper, with mallets, lots of papertowles and copious quantities of draft beer :)

But of course that is JMHO :)
