AnyDVD tackles Sony DRM Rootkit Virus!

If AnyDVD is installed and active on your PC, the new so-called "Sony DRM Rootkit Virus" has no access to your system and the affected audio CD appears unprotected regardless! Another good reason to get AnyDVD!

TOPICS:
KEYWORDS: drm; rootkit; sony
i have nothing to do with this company other then using their product. anyDVD allows you to play DVD on your computer as well as "other things." if this mod is as good as their other products it will just plain work.

normally i would never post something like this but those ^@#$%@$% at sony need to be stopped with their virus.

Return it for a clean one. Sony will announce this week how they plan to replace the DRM cd's already out there.

There is far more music that I would like than I can ever afford, so I usually by Indy artist stuff by mail order or huge inexpensive import compilations. It is not to defeat the RIAA viruses, you must not fund them.

I had a problem tonight while trying to burn a CD with Real Player. A lady had heard one of my Christian CD's that I'd given the Minister at a small Church in Georgesville. Well, she called me tonight and asked me if there were some way she could buy one. I told her I give her one free and have my husband drop it off at the church in a few minutes.

But when I tried to burn a CD with Real Player, it told me I couldn't. It said the music file was copyright protected. Say what!!!! It's my own song! I created it on my own computer! How in the world could this happen? I've used Real Player to burn my own music (Music I wrote and recorded myself) for years! Now tonight it say's I can't burn my own music, I wrote and created?? EEKKKKK!

I used an old program of another type to burn the CD for the lady but this is crazy. I guess I got an update to my Real Player software that I wasn't aware of. I hate that these companies take over our computers and do these things to us with out our knowledge. It sucks!

This is really scary. I heard that Sony is just one of many other spyware/virus rootkits that are out there. Anyone know who/what else could be running a rootkit?

Also, (for us dumb blondes) how can I tell if I have it, and what program(s) can I use to remove it?

My son has anyDVD for the past year, and I thought I remember seeing that they weren't going to update it anymore? He's been getting update emails, so obviously this isn't so. Had you heard this? BTW, anyDVD is well worth the money.
