WWE reports Eddie Guerrero found dead

By COREY DAVID LACROIX -- SLAM! Wrestling

WWE.com is reporting today that Eddie Guerrero was found dead this morning in his hotel room in Minneapolis, MN.

No cause of death has been reported, Guerrero is survived by his wife Vickie and two daughters.

Guerrero had an absolutely stellar wrestling career, marked by his ability to deliver athletically competent, emotional, and ultimately awe inspiring performances in the ring. At the same time, it seemed he was constantly fending off his own personal demons in the form of alcohol and drug dependency. Those struggles were immortalized in the released DVD Cheating Death, Stealing Life: The Eddie Guerrero Story.

SLAM! Wrestling will have more as this story develops.

He was a great performer and star. He'll be missed.

"Surprising indeed; he was quite young"

Not surprising considering his lifestyle. Drugs and alcohol don't care how old or how young someone may be.

As a long time wrestling fan, this is very sad news...

He was one of the best ring performers with an outstanding knowledge of wrestling. I did not care for some of the story lines he was involved in, but his matches were always worth viewing.

And reported to be 38 years of age....sad...

Most animals are bright enough not to watch professional wrestling...

Hey! I watched Killer Kowalski and Haystack Calhoun when I was growing up, and I turned out OK.

I shoudn't waste my time dignifying a response like that but I watch wrestling because I enjoy it and understand it for what it is, Sports Entertainment. I love the performers and I love the storylines. It's just an escape so don't try to take it so seriously.

I'm not an animal, but I do have a doctorate and have enjoyed professional wrestling since my oldest son was an infant and all that was on tv at night when he got up was the old WCW nitro re-runs. Shame on you for you lack of tact and sensitivity.

Biologically, humans are animals, thus one would have to go into dubious moral distinctions of fine nature. And anthraciterabbit has a point - mindless entertainment is indeed for the mentally defecative [spelling intended]. Gladstone used to call it "demoralized public opinion" and "diseased appetites".
Hopefully, the said antraciterabbit is [in civilian life] fruitfully engaged in, say, search for a cancer cure or something else of similar credit to humanity, otherwise his comment would sound hollow.

Too bad. He was way too young to go. I wonder if steroids were a contributing factor.

Years ago, a jockey about that age got killed in a spill, ruptured spleen. He had a long history of drug and alcohol abuse. One of the attending doctors told his friend his organs were aged like a 70 year old man.

...it was reputed, that Bubba and Shrillary Klintoon; loved watching, "the fans of WWE/NITRO/"Professional wrestling" in general...something about Elitism...that said, I don't watch it myself, when younger (12-13) I did...seems so pointless (like getting drunk/high) after that.

The strange part about that is that WWE actively campaigned against Gore and Lieberman.

Jerry Lawler as RAW announcer "I'm not voting for Gore/Lieberman"

WWE is a patriotic group. They were in Bagdad (Eddie was there) and spent Christmas day with the troops the first and second year. They support the troops and give free passes to them to the matches. The wrestlers are involved with make a wish and many helpful organizations. They are probably our best international good will ambassadors.
