You lose over 50% of your connection speed in the conversion and transmission process. Not if you're less than twenty feet away from the wireless router (like mine is). Between the ethernet line and the wireless, I find little to no difference.

Well, I cannot speak from experience, but most wireless routers I've seen have data transfer speeds between 5 and 25 mbs... maybe up to 50 mbs??? but ethernet and dsl speeds are in the 350 to 750 mbs range if not higher. Regardless, there is still an extra conversion/transmission/re-conversion process which takes place, which at the very least significantly increases your ping time (or lag).
