In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
carceral • \KAHR-suh-rul\ • adjective
of, relating to, or suggesting a jail or prison
Example sentence:
When James first glimpsed his new campus, he thought there was something rather carceral about the school's tall wrought-iron fence.
Etymology: Describing a painting of John Howard visiting a prison in 1787, writer Robert Hughes reminds us that Howard was "the pioneer of English carceral reform" (Time Magazine, November 11, 1985). Huges might have said "prison reform," but what about Vladimir Nabokov, when, in his inimitable prose, he describes a prison scene in Invitation to a Beheading: "The door opened, whining, rattling and groaning in keeping with all the rules of carceral counterpoint." Here we find "carceral" not only practical but practically poetical. An adjective borrowed directly from Late Latin, "carceral" appeared shortly after "incarcerate" ("to imprison"), which first showed up in English around the mid-1500s; they're both ultimately from "carcer," Latin for "prison."

I've tried the hazelnut flavoured powdered Coffeemate, not bad, but a little strong. I don't remember seeing the liquid stuff, but since I rarely have coffee I wouldn't be looking for that in the store. Thanks for the information.

read the article, ti. i think it is extremely necessary for the clergy to step up to the plate on issues of sex and morality with young people. not enough parents are doing it, and kids need all the instruction they can get about what is right and what is moral. i fully expect the priest will deal with these issues, as well as online pornography etc, during the retreats that xsboy and his classmates will have for Confirmation prep this year.

I had the talk on oral sex with my middle school age daughter after clinton made such news commonplace. I still hate him for that. Had to explain to this child what they were doing with a cigar as well. Gosh, I hate that man.
I think Google should do something about the porn on their site. I was looking up "high heels" one time, and came across porn. I was aghast. Not that I'm a prude or anything, but come on.
I will finish reading later, hard to get close enough to the screen with Miss Ava on my lap. She is working out, she can almost sit up by herself at eleven weeks. I am such a grandma wannabee.

all 3 xskids have had colds for the past week, they won't drink hot choc without marshmallows, xsbrownie put two big bags of the minimarshmallows in the shopping cart on sunday. we are well stocked with marshmallows.
